Grant Opportunity: ODA Noxious Weed Grant Program

Capital Assistance for Local Farmers

Website

Eligibility: Grant applicants must be a tribe, watershed council, soil and water conservation district, not-for-profit institution, school, community college, Oregon State institution of higher education, independent not-for-profit institution of higher education, or political subdivision of this state that is not a state agency. A state or federal agency may apply for funding only as a co-applicant with an eligible entity.

Private landowners should reach out to their county weed contact if they have questions on weed control, reporting a new weed, or need helping identifying something new.  Also reach out your county or local weed organization to see if there are resources to help with treatments.  Multiple counties around the state do have assistance or cost share programs that might have resources to help.

Here is the ODA County Weed Program Map, it is an interactive map – click on a county and it will pull up county or weed lead for that area.

Region: Oregon statewide

Notes: Grants due December 17th, 2025.

Project requirements

  • Must be for the management of state listed noxious weeds.
  • Must demonstrate sound principles of integrated weed management to both protect and enhance watershed health.
  • Demonstrate specific site management objectives.
  • Projects should include control, and may include survey, monitoring, prevention, restoration, and outreach.

Since 2010 the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) and the Oregon Department of Agriculture have worked together to administer the ODA Noxious Weed Grant Program. It is a priority of the Oregon State Weed Board (OSWB) to fund projects that restore, enhance or protect fish and wildlife habitat, watershed function, and native salmonid or water quality. The implementation of a comprehensive watershed approach to integrated control of noxious weeds is the most effective strategy to minimize impacts and protect natural resources in Oregon from invasive noxious weeds.
The goal of the OSWB is to fund as many high priority projects as possible with the available funding.

The project must be for the management of state listed noxious weeds. ODA Noxious Weed Policy Classification
